About Pizza Alfresco - Sydney Mobile Woodfired Pizza Catering Service

At Pizza Alfresco the dough is everything!!  We use a recipe handed down for generations from father to son in the pizzerias of Naples, and all the pizzas are formed by hand. No rollers here! The dough stretching technique is essential to create a crust that is soft, light and full of flavour.

Introducing Carlo...

Carlo was born in Naples, home to “The Bay of Naples”, Mt Vesuvius and the best pizza in the world!! It is said that Naples was where the pizza was invented.

With his extended family owning over a dozen pizzerias in and around Naples, you could say that pizza was in the blood, so at 15 years of age, Carlo began working for his Aunty in a bustling Pizzeria right in the heart of Naples. Established in 1945 the Pizzeria can still be found to this day and is a favorite with the daily market goers and tourists. It was here that Carlo started his apprenticeship as a “Pizzaiolo” (Pizza Chef). The Pizzaiolo must be a real “maestro”, spending over 3 years learning the traditional techniques of making the perfect pizza.

After many years working in his family’s pizza restaurants Carlo decided it was time to open his own Pizzeria/Restaurante. There, Carlo spent the next 10 years supplying pizza and traditional Napolitano fair to the residents and tourists of the iconic streets of Naples.

In 2003, Carlo came to Australia for a holiday and was quickly offered a working sponsorship by a Sydney-based pizza restaurant. Within that time he met his wife and now calls Australia home.

Carlo is proud to introduce Pizza Alfresco and looks forward to bringing the real taste of Naples to your door.
